This year, I’m involved in organising INHERSHOES – ART & MUSIC AGAINST CANCER - a cancer fundraiser involving a host of local celebs who will be performing, including Adrian & Tracie Pang, Jack and Rai, Joanna Dong, Linda Black & many others.

To spread the word, we’ve created a video that will hopefully go viral & help us get more people coming on the 17th September! Proceeds go to cancer research.

So, please help spread the word. Even if you’re on a different continent, or can’t make it on the night – the tickets are donation-based, so you can still donate that way online. The amount you want to give is entirely up to you. You can get them via www.inhershoes.sg

This is a short film I did a while back (beginning of 2010), and it’s something I wanted to share with all of you. It has a message at the end of the film, something which is very pertinent in today’s world.

I just wanted to say that the helpline number is relevant only to Singapore, but if you, or anyone you know, are going through depression, please think twice. By living on, you have a chance to change your life & a chance to find happiness. So please reach out a hand to those who may be in trouble. Or if you are the one going under, please speak to someone, anyone.

Your life is much too precious to be thrown around.

Hollywood or Asia?

Coming back to blog after a long hiatus, with a heavy heart, wondering if I’ll ever get whatever I dream for in my life. As everyday goes by, somehow, instead of feeling closer to my dream, I feel like I’m getting further & further away. Oh, don’t get me wrong – I’ve been completing 2 short films, a few events, and involved in a bit of TV, as well as completing a few auditions. I haven’t been twiddling my thumbs.

It’s very difficult for me to admit this. Because I’ve always tried to be an inspiration – the encouraging one, the one full of hopes & dreams & visions for the future. But there comes a point when everything is just too much to take, and I don’t know what to do next.

My life is not all that bad, all things considered.

I’m not saying that I’m being bullied, or in poverty, or abused. No, I’m thankful for what I have – my family, my friends, God, every single blessing I have in my life. It’s more than what some people could hope for. And I’m thankful that I have inspired some people around me to chase their dreams. It is heartwarming for me to hear people thank me for being an inspiration, or a source of encouragement.

But I just feel totally un-talented at times.

No matter how many people have told me (and there have been many, and I’m thankful for every single one of them) that I have talent – what’s the use?

I’m just longing for someone to recognise my uniqueness. For me to at least feel slightly special.

I know I’m far from perfect. There’re things I can’t do – but also things I can do. I’m great at dramatic scenes, I have deep emotional strength & depth, action scenes are one of my strengths & I have a natural instinct which can’t be learnt.

But I don’t know what to do next. Where to go from here?

I know what I want – to eventually be the lead in international feature films, to be an inspiration for dream-chasers around the world, to create stories which move the world. To be a world-shaker & history-maker. Is that too much to ask?

Maybe that is too much to ask, maybe I shouldn’t ask for my time in the limelight.

I’ve been considering my options – but I know this (acting) is home for me, and it’s something I will never stray away from. Because this is my life – this is what I was born to do.

And how many people can say that they truly love their work?

This whole rant is totally out of character, especially since I rarely vent my frustrations online in a public space. But this has been building up for so long, I just needed an outlet. I apologise for sounding like I’m complaining. I love you guys, and I want you all to just keep chasing your dreams. There’re obstacles every step of the way – but that just makes success all the more sweet.

So recently 98.7FM (here in Singapore) opened a contest for GLEEKS – the prize is a trip to L.A. to watch the Glee Cast perform live. A recent Gleek (only about 2 months old!), I couldn’t miss the opportunity & posted my Kurt Hummel impersonation video.

You’re supposed to post a video of your favourite Glee character, and although Kurt is a guy, he’s the one I watch the most, and so, I decided “why not??” It’s embarrassing, but it was fun to work on. And I’ve dedicated this video to Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) – one of the most amazing inspirations I’ve had.

So I was sitting alone at the Avenue of Stars last night, contemplating life & reflecting on what matters most in life. It’s worth taking time out to slow down & appreciate what life has to offer. So on the spur of the moment, I decided to make a video blog.

It also serves as a filler till my next blog entry – which will probably be full of food photos, amongst others. I had a really good time in Jeanne’s class, but it also raised a lot of questions about the kind of actor I am, the strengths I have versus the weaknesses I have, and how much work I have to do to get to where I want to be.

But I’ll save that for a future entry. For now, enjoy the breeze in HK~!

Came to Hong Kong primarily to attend Jeanne Hartman’s Acting Workshop but also to catch up with friends, and spend time in this busy city-state.

Shout-out to friends in HK: “Got time to catch up?!”

This was the photo from Jeanne’s workshop last December. Looking forward to learning even more from her this time~!

Barely touched down in HK 7 hours ago, but I’m already feeling at home. Spent a month here last December, and it’s almost a homecoming of sorts. Yet, one year on, I know how much I’ve changed.

Took these photos on the plane & I love just how beautiful nature is.

Just a short entry today, but I couldn’t resist putting in a photo of my favourite drink in HK, the Ice Lemon Tea 凍檸茶 – totally authentic.

Heading to meet Victor, a fellow Singaporean actor, tomorrow (or rather, later today) before he flies back to Singapore. Managed to catch him tonight, and had a late dinner & dessert. Lovely to meet up with friends in a foreign country. LOL.
